We live in a world were smell can cause us to react negatively. The invention of deodorant was a lifesaver for many of us. But little do we know that the ingredient on this deodorant can be harmful to us in the long run. Lucky for us there are natural deodorant receipts for us to make it ourselves.

On a hot summer, morning rushing to go to work when we squeeze into a pack train. You turn your head, and you face next to a guy armpit, and the other person is sweat clear shown on their shirt. Every breath you inhale a woof of that sweating smell. There is not were to escape. This the reality of our modern world where this situation is common. There is nothing we can do about the packs of the train, but there is something that we can do for our odour, apply deodorant that is natural and safe.  No one wants to be that guy, having their body odour revealed in public. Deodorant is a really popular choice, and there are various brands and products on the market today. Just 15 minutes of shopping should get you a deodorant with a really pleasant smell. But as the deal with every chemical product, normal deodorant may not be all safe for your health, nor they are friendly with environment. And not to mention even though there is an abundance of deodorant products, not many of them have long-lasting effects, enough to get you through a day. The best solution for this is to truly understand where does body odour come from, and resolve it with natural methods and natural deodorant.

How many kinds of body odour are there and what is the cause of them?

The most common body odour problem is the smelly armpit. In cases when armpit sweats too much. Because often the salt level of the sweat is too high for the bacteria to break down. Sweat itself is virtually odourless to humans. It is the rapid multiplication of bacteria in the presence of sweat and their breaking down of sweat into acids that eventually causes the unpleasant smell. If your armpits have hair, it slows down the evaporation of sweat, giving the bacteria more time to break it down into smelly substances. This is a real nuisance because it leaks uncomfortable smell even when you just stand still and don’t do anything. It also leaves a yellow smudge on clothes.

Beside armpit, the second nightmare is foot odour: Most of us wear shoes and socks, making it much more difficult for the sweat to evaporate, giving the bacteria more chance to break down into smelly substances. Moist feet also raise the risk of fungi developing, which can also give off unpleasant smells. Stinky feet are less of a problem than underarm odour because shoes and socks usually contain the unpleasant odour. However, the smell may become apparent when you have to take off your shoes, as is the custom in various countries and homes.

Why can’t you trust conventional deodorants?

Deodorants are usually called upon in these situations. However, the main composition of conventional deodorant is a substance that may make you reconsider your choice of these products: aluminium.

Aluminium is presented in most deodorants available on the market. It can limit body odour by inhibiting the bacteria that feed on your sweat and cause it; it also stops you from sweating by blocking your pores. However, aluminium brings along with it a lot of risks, among those are two deadly diseases: Alzheimer and breast cancer

  1. Alzheimer: According to WTO, using aluminium is one of the causes of this disease. A few research between the 1970s and 2017 show that for victims of Alzheimer diseases, there are always high levels of aluminium in their brains, suggesting a direct link between this substance and Alzheimer. So even though there isn’t yet research that confirms for sure the negative effect of aluminium, the exposure to aluminium through many sources, including deodorant, is still a big concern.
  2. Breast Cancer: Since the underarm is quite close to the breast, the use of deodorant can cause breast cancer. The thinking is that the aluminium gets absorbed into the lymph nodes and, travel to the breast and then accumulate there. Aluminium can cause estrogen-like effects, for which hormone estrogen is known for promoting the growth of cancer cells. Besides, the fact that aluminium prevents sweating means that the cancerous substances absorbed during the use of industrial products can’t get out of the body.

Also, sweating is also the body’s way to get rid of toxins, regulate body temperature, and promote a strong immune system.  By blocking the pores, aluminium is also preventing the sweat to function as it should.

Other than aluminium, other substances in conventional deodorants can also cause a lot of harm:

  • Imbalance hormone: Paraben is used as a preservative in products. Paraben usually gets absorbed through the skin, and it has the power to affect the balance of hormone in the body. The result is obesity, osteoporosis, subfertility in man, late menopause.
  • Cause allergic reactions: Deodorant products often have fragrance made from Glycol propylene, chemicals are known to cause allergy, eczema and can even damage your liver, lung. Moreover, your skin will be drier and darker.

The cause of many dangerous diseases in human.

Thankfully, industrially made deodorants are not the only way to combat body odour. Smelly armpit can be cured by another way, and at an affordable cost too. Natural deodorant is an effective therapy for your problem, and it only takes a little time to do it. Natural deodorant does not contain chemical ingredients, so it does not harm your skin or block pores. It does not leave vestiges on clothes and has natural, pleasant fragrances. And it is easy to make. You can follow one of the recipes below for a good, wonderful natural deodorant:

  1. Use coconut oil as a deodorant roll.

  1. Now, some people with extremely sensitive skin can develop allergic reactions to baking soda. So, there is still one extra recipe that is absolutely soothing even for the most sensitive skin:

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup arrowroot powder
  • 1/4 cup food grade diatomaceous earth. This is a powder rich in silica and antimicrobial, so it works well. Its pH is normally lower than baking soda so it won’t disrupt your pH balance
  • 7-9 tablespoons melted coconut oil

How to make it

  • Combine baking soda and arrowroot powder
  • Add four tablespoons melted coconut oil and mix it. Add coconut oil until the deodorant reaches your preferred consistency.
  • Transfer mixture to a jar with a tight-fitting lid. Apply a small amount to underarms when needed

Also, it will help to reduce body odour if you shower daily, limit consuming smelly food and wear comfortable clothes.

For foot odour, some of the best natural deodorants are:

  1. Vinegar: Vinegar is beneficial in getting rid of smelly feet because it creates an acidic environment in which bacteria can’t survive. You can use any vinegar, especially apple cider vinegar for this home remedy. Prepare a mixture of one-half cup of vinegar and 8 cups of hot water. Next, soak your feet in it for 10 to 15 minutes. Finally, wash your feet thoroughly with soap to remove the vinegar smell. This remedy is suitable for almost every skin types.

A wonderful virtue of apple cider: eliminate food odour.

  1. Of course, if your skin is too sensitive, you can try out this recipe for sensitive skin

Ingredients:

  • Essential Oils:
    • 7 drops of tea tree
    • 6 drops of lavender
    • 5 drops of sandalwood
    • 2 drops of geranium

How to make it is extremely simple. You just need to put every ingredient in a container (whether a glass bottle or a jar), secure the lid and shake well. You can apply the mixture on your feet, your shoes or even your socks. White clay is very light, so it is safe for sensitive skin, yet can effectively eliminate gunk and moisture. And essential oils are already notorious for its antiseptic and soothing effect.

And don’t forget to follow these tips to stop foot odour:

    • Wash your feet at least once a day: Warm water is better at killing bacteria than cold water. Make sure you dry your feet thoroughly afterwards, including in between your toes.
    • Socks: They must allow the sweat to evaporate, so choose socks made from natural materials. The best socks are those made of a combination of man-made fibres and wool. Wear a clean pair of socks each day.
    • Shoes: If you wear trainers or shoes with plastic linings make sure it is not for long. A leather lining is better for sweat evaporation. If you have a problem with sweaty feet, do not wear the same pair of shoes two days in a row. Shoes do not get completely dry overnight. And wear sandals or go barefoot whenever you can.
    • Remove dead skin: Bacteria thrive on dead skin. If the soles of your feet have patches of dead skin remove them with a pumice stone.

Most of us have body odour. It is not a serious problem if we know the treatment. The natural way is not only safe but also really easy to make and use. Natural deodorant is suitable for everyone so don’t hesitate to try it. Body odour will no longer be an inconvenience to you.
