  • Remove the petals and soak in saline or rice water for 10-15 minutes, to disinfect and remove pesticides

 

Method

There are two ways to make rose water, depending on the conditions and available instruments you can choose the appropriate method for yourself. The first option is simpler than the second option, but the second method allows you to get purer rose water.

The first method

  • Tools:
  • A pot, crockery or glassware
  • A filter rail, or mosquito netting
  • Method:
  • Put the flower petals into the crockery or glassware; add 200-250ml of water.
  • Pour water into the pot and place a bowl into the pot. The water level in the pot is 2-3cm lower than the bowl, so that water doesn’t overflow into the bowl when boiling.
  • Put the pot on the stove, and cook it with a small fire. Don’t let the water boil, because when the temperature is too hot, the essence of roses can be lost. Water will change colour after 45 minutes (from petals), and there is a thin layer of oil in the bowl. Prevent the pot from running out of the water.
  • After the bowl has cooled, pour the water through the filter and store it in the bottle. Keep it closed and store in the refrigerator.

The second method

  • A big pot with lid

  • A small dish
  • 1 bag of ice cubes
  • Method:

  • When the water level in the pot is about 0.5cm, turn off the stove.
